Anxious to be in the forefront of secular politics, in the manner he did in 1990 when he arrested BJP leader LK Advani during his rath yatra in Bihar, RJD chief and railway minister Lalu Prasad Yadav on Wednesday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and demanded arrest of Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi in the light of Tehelka disclosures.
Prasad told newspersons that Modi be arrested as the recent Tehelka sting operation had ?proved? Modi?s role in the Gujarat riots in post-Godhra incident. He also demanded action against Opposition leader LK Advani, for ?shielding? Modi. ??The Tehelka expose has conclusively established Modi?s role in the Gujarat riots which left thousands dead,?? the railway minister is learnt to have told the PM. ??The Tehelka tapes are sufficient evidence to book Modi under Section 302 IPC and place him and other perpetrators of the communal carnage under arrest,?? the delegation told the PM.
??The sting had vindicated whatever we have been saying regarding the riots,?? Lalu said after emerging out from the meeting. He added that the Prime Minister gave them a patient hearing and assured that he will look into the matter. Last week Tehelka released spy-cam interviews of various BJP and Sangh Parivar workers as well as leaders, in which they claimed that they had the blessings of Gujarat chief minister for perpetuating the violence in Gujarat in 2002.
