JK Tyre & Industries Ltd has emerged as India’s largest four-wheeler tyre company after it has completed the acquisition of Tornel of Mexico for Rs 270 crore through a special purpose vehicle route. Post acquisition, the collective capacity of JK Tyre has gone up to 940 tonne per day, the combined production capacity of Tornel at 290 tonne per day and 650 tonne per day of JK Tyres. With the acquisition that was financed through a combination of debt and equity, JK Tyres has now become an over $1 billion company.
