Infosys BPO, the $400-million BPO arm of the IT giant Infosys Technologies, which currently runs two back offices in Poland and the Czech Republic, plans to open new centres in Europe by the first half of next fiscal. For the company, about 55% of business comes from the US, while Europe contributes more than 40%. D Swaminathan, chief executive and managing director, Infosys BPO, said, ?We are exploring two new centres in the European region and will be finalising it by the first half of FY12. ?It is important to operate from near-shore locations to provide competitive advantage to our clients. In the European region, we are seeing more traction in sectors like manufacturing, retail and BFSI.?

The Infosys BPO currently has 12 centres worldwide, including seven in Asia-Pacific and five in India, Europe and South America including Brazil and Mexico. This year, the company also announced plans to expand its back office operations in Poland and increase its headcount to 1,500.
