The Competition Commission of India (CCI) and the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) have joined hands in spreading awareness about the competition law in the corporate sector, which would not just promote economic growth but would also be in the interest of the Indian consumer.

ICSI will shortly launch a post-membership qualification course in competition law. According to Keyoor Bakshi, president of ICSI, ?This course would give the corporate sector an advantage to compete in the national as well as global economy?.

NK Jain, secretary and CEO, ICSI said, ?Competition law is playing a big role in countries like UK, USA, Australia and Denmark, whereas in India it has not been able to spread its wings. This is because the competition law is a complex and technical subject. Therefore, an awareness is a must, especially for those who have to deal with it directly like advocates, chartered accountants, and company secretaries?.

ICSI has organised competition advocacy workshop, seminars and regularly deliberating on issues in competition law and policy in its various seminars, regional conferences and national conventions.

Vinod Dhall, acting chairman of the Competition Commission of India (CCI) said, ?When the Competition Commission, the Competition Appellate Authority, director general offices become functional, the impact of business action on competitive forces in the market would be better monitored”.
