Hyundai Motor India plans to launch LPG variant in 2008. Targeting to sell 15,000 units of i-10 in 2007 in India, Hyundai on Friday launched its latest offering in the north market that holds 40% market.

The company whose sales were affected due to limitations in manufacturing capacity for year and half in the past is expecting to achieve sale figure of 2 lakh in the current year compared to 1.85 lakh in 2006.

“High interest rates have definitely dampened the sale growth and especially car seekers tendency to go for higher version in the current year,” Arvind Saxena, vice president, marketing and sales, Hyundai Motors (India) said during the launch of i-10 in Chandigarh region.

“In the past 85% of the customers availed finance scheme to buy Hyundai product but the category this year has taken 15% hit,” Saxena said. But the company would surpass the last year’s sales figure in export as well as domestic market.

He said that despite appreciating rupee the company is expecting the exports to grow to 1.20 lakh units compared to 1.15 lakh in 2006. He said that i-10 that comes with a affordable price tag and a latest design and technology would make its haunt of car seekers in the segment.

The sale figure for Hyundai products in the entire north region stood at 80,800 units in 2006 and growth pattern of 40% is expected to continue in the current year, Saurabh Srivastava, head north zone disclosed.
