The minister for civil aviation, Praful Patel on Tuesday informed the Parliament about the airports charges at Hyderabad & Bangalore airports.
As per Concession Agreements signed by the government of India with Hyderabad International Airport Limited (HIAL) and Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), both the Airport Companies are allowed to levy the charges for a number of services that they provide. These include landing, housing and parking (domestic & international), passenger service fee (domestic & international) and user development fee (domestic & international).
For the first year of operation the Landing & parking Fee and Passenger Service Fee will be at rates applicable at other airports in India. For the Hyderabad airport Government of India has approved levy of Rs. 1000/- as ad-hoc UDF on international departing passengers. Actual quantum of UDF for domestic and international passengers as well as other regulated charges in respect of both Hyderabad and Bangalore airports would be fixed up only after the receipt of final audited project cost from them.
?This is expected after around three months of study by the ministry,? civil aviation ministry officials told FE. As per the provisions of the Concession Agreement entered into by BIAL and the Government, UDF can be levied by BIAL on departing international and domestic passengers.
The quantum of the fee has not been specified in the Concession Agreement , and the fee is to be determined at a level which would enable BIAL to recover its cost.
