France on Friday evinced interest to sign a civil nuclear pact with India on the pattern of the Indo-US deal but said that it will await outcome of talks between NewDelhi and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
?We are in favour of initialing a future agreement on civilian nuclear cooperation. But we have to first wait for India to finalise the pact with the IAEA,? visiting French foreign minister Bernard Kouchner said here on Friday.
Kouchner emphasised that France was trying to ensure that the bilateral pact could be signed during President Nicolas Sarkozy?s visit to India in January 24 next year, but it may be delayed.
?Even if a protocol is ready, we have to wait for India?s IAEA pact. We have to speed up agreements but it might be delayed,? he said.
