Ford India Pvt Ltd is planning to focus on the Tier II and III cities to penetrate deeper into the markets. Currently, the company has 130 dealership outlets in India and the target is to enhance it to 190-200 outlets by 2010.

Speaking at a press conference here on Thursday, Michael Boneham, managing director and president of the company said, ?Ford India is enhancing its capacity to 2 lakh units per year from 1 lakh units by 2010. The company is bringing in new models and also has plans to introduce small car. We need to showcase and market the complete range across the country and for that we need to have a strong backbone of dealers. So, we intend to enhance the number of dealership outlets by another 50%. Right now, Ford models are being sold through 130 outlets across the country.?

Boneham was here in the city to unveil a new Ford Fiesta model ?Fiesta 1.6 S?. The model, which is available only with the 101PS petrol Duratec engine, is priced at Rs 7,24,000 (ex-showroom).

Talking about ?Fiesta 1.6 S?, he said, the model was designed by Ford, Australia but was optimised for the Indian markets. It is targeted at the new age Indian customers in the affluent segment. The company is taking all steps to market the model through TV, press, outdoor, internet and in showroom experience, he said but refused to divulge the details on the marketing spend for the model.
