The first commercial flight from the much-awaited Bengaluru International Airport is all set to take off on March 30.

According to Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) officials, beginning March public trials involving real passengers will commence.

?Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will inaugurate the airport on March 28 and commercial operations will begin from March 30,? BIAL chief executive officer Albert Brunner said here on Thursday.

BIAL chief operating officer Marcel Hungerbuehler said airline companies have given consent to carry out integrated trials from March. ?Airlines like Kingfisher, Deccan, Jet Airways and Indian will be part of the public trials,? he said. Brunner said they expected to break-even in six-seven years from the date of operations and the airport would earn 15-20% of its revenues from non-aviation activities like food & beverages.
