Coming down heavily on individual party leaders voicing adverse views against the UPA government and its functionaries, the Congress leadership on Thursday sharply snubbed senior leader Satyavrat Chaturvedi, who had attacked union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar for alleging mismanaging the drought situation in the country.
On Wednesday, Chaturvedi criticised the agriculture minister over rising sugar prices, saying Pawar was not only able to tackle the situation but had misrepresented facts on availability of sugar. Distancing itself from Chaturvedi?s remarks, AICC media department chairperson Janardan Dwivedi sent out a strong message that such actions were not welcome.
?Whatever party would like to say in the future, it would say it officially. So far as expressing personal views are concerned, it advises all Congressmen not to express their so called personal views in public or through the media,? Dwivedi said. He said that the party?s views on the drought situation had already been stated through a CWC resolution recently.
