The BJP on Friday said the text of the nuclear agreement with the US has confirmed its fears that India?s right to nuclear testing will be impacted.

Meanwhile, the Left parties withheld their criticism, saying that they would meet on August 7 to discuss the issue and then convey Prime Minister Manmohan Singh their observations.

?Television channels are going to town, saying there is no mention of nuclear testing in the text. But then the text says issues not covered in it will be subject to national laws, which means the Hyde Act,? senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha said.

Left parties, on the other hand, have already begun consultations with likeminded scientists, legal and foreign affairs experts to finalise their viewpoint. Given that the Left has always been opposed to the US, party circles indicated that the initial response would be against the deal.
