Karnataka-based power producing firm Bhoruka Power Corporation Ltd (BPCL) has signed an agreement with Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) to supply power for the next 35 years.
S Chandrasekhar, managing director of Bhoruka said, ?the Indian energy sector is one of the key thrust areas where the country has embarked on a vital mission of reforms, privatisation, capacity addition and systems improvement. It is one of the exciting times for the energy sector and those involved with it.?
The project (at Western Yamuna Canal in Dadupur ) will be set up with an estimated investment of Rs 42 crore and installed capacity of 6 MW. It is likely to be completed in the next 15 months.
The upcoming power plant will be the first hydel plant of the company outside Karnataka. The plant, once completed, will take the total installed capacity of BPCL to 124 MW.
