The Trichy unit of Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd has reported an impressive performance, crossing the Rs 10,000-crore turnover target in 2009-10 fiscal ? first time in Bhel?s Trichy history and well ahead of its schedule in 2012.
Keeping in mind the swelling order book size, the unit also announced increasing its installed capacity to 15,000 mega watt per annum for the current financial year (2010-11) as against 10,000 mw per annum, coinciding with the Bhel parent?s decision to up installed capacity to 20,000 mw in the current financial year, said AV Krishnan, executive director, Bhel (Trichy).
Bhel Trichy also projected a turnover of Rs 12,765 crore with a profit before tax of Rs 3,542 crore in the current financial year.
Talking to reporters here on Friday, he said, the turnover has crossed the Rs 10,000-crore mark to end at Rs 10,008 crore, a growth of 34% over last financial year?s Rs 7,460 crore. The profit before tax zoomed to Rs 2,510 crore as against Rs 1,653 crore, representing a growth of 52%.
?We will be investing Rs 690 crore in the current financial year, including Rs 250 crore into its piping unit at Tirumayam in Pudukottai district of Tamil Nadu and Rs 440 crore into the third unit to meet our desired target of 15,000 mw capacity by the current financial year,? Krishnan said. Last financial year, the Trichy complex made an investment of Rs 1,000 crore, including Rs 732 crore into expanding manufacturing capacity of high pressure boiler plant, he added.
?We have set a production target of 7,00,000 tonne boiler components in the current financial year as against 550,000 tonne achieved in the year under review. We expect to increase the same to 8,50,000 tonne in next financial year (2011-12),? he pointed out.
