The Bawal industrial growth centre has emerged as a hot choice for both Indian as well as global multinationals. After all the plots in the first phase were purchased like hot cakes, the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) is getting a stupendous response from industry for allotment of 1,000 acres of land in the second phase. The corporation has already received atleast 3,000 applications for about 140 plots and expects approximately 3,000 more before the deadline of November 16.

The plots have been divided in three categories? 25 plots of 500 sq mt, 52 plots of 1,000 sq mt and over 52 plots of 1,800 sq mt. “In the second phase we will encourage the development of small and medium enterprises under general category. Out of the 1,000 acres acquired by HSIIDC, companies like Caparo, Omaxe Auto, LS cables Ltd and many others have been allotted space,” a senior official told FE.

Bawal is topping the investment charts of NRIs too with industrialists like Lord Swaraj Paul-founded Caparo group. Recently the company acquired 100 acres at the growth centre for development of six new engineering ventures for its Indian division of vehicle products. As per the official, HSIIDC not only allotted 1,200 acres of land to the big players but also acquired additional 1,000 acres for the extension of this centre under urgency clause of land acquisition Act. However, foreseeing the demand from the industries, HSIIDC is floating these new plots for the development of the second phase.

Caparo’s two stamping plants are already operational through a joint venture with Maruti Suzuki. Korean firm LS Cables Ltd is also firming up its plans to set up a power and telecommunication cable project at Bawal growth centre. The company will be allotted 40 acres of land in the second phase of development. Also, Korean giant Posco group is scouting for space at the centre.
