Auto major Bajaj Auto Ltd (BAL) announced the regional launch of its ambitious XCD 125, a 125 CC Digital Twin Spark-Swirl Induction (DTS-Si) engine powered motorcycle, with a projected roll-out of at least 7,000 units in Chennai over the next two months.
Announcing this, BAL National Sales Manager Vimal Sumbly said the bike has an engine capacity of 125 CC but is packed with features of a 150 CC vehicle. He claimed that it would offer a mileage of 109 kmpl and hoped the company would be able to sell 50,000 vehicles units across India.
“The R&D team in BAL took almost five years to design and manufacture the motorcycle and all requirements and specifications of the consumer have been kept in mind,” Sumbly said.
With the launch of XCD 125, the company aimed to top the upper market segment of 100 CC, in the price range of over Rs 38,000, as “there is no product in this segment,” he said.
The vehicle is fitted with some “firsts of its kind” features in the 125 CC segment, like a digital speedometer, LED tail lamp, headlamp with twin prismatic pilot lamps, a folding number plate in the front and full DC electrical system among others, he said.
The bike is priced at Rs 41,000 ex-showroom.
