Three days before the debate on the Liberhan Commission Report in the Lok Sabha, the VHP on Friday said that former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was also involved in the movement leading to the Babri demolition in Ayodhya on December 6, 1992.

In response to a question on Vajpayee being indicted in the Liberhan Commission Report, VHP leader Ashok Singhal said at a press conference here on Friday: ?Ataljee was also involved in the movement. He had been also arrested. I won?t say that he was not involved. He had been arrested in Lucknow.?

Asked to react to BJP leader LK Advani?s statement that the demolition was the saddest day of his life, Singhal said: ? Maine unhein kahaa hai ki we aisa nahin kahein (I have asked him not to make statements like this)?.

Singhal took exception to the inclusion of the name of Deoraha Baba in the list of indicted in the Liberhan Commission Report. ?Including the name of Deoraha Baba in the list of indicted persons by the Liberhan Commission Report is an insult to the sant fraternity, and the act has hurt crores of his followers,? he said, even as he reiterated the VHP call to build temples in Kashi and Mathura, apart from the disputed site at Ayodhya.
