Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, a new name has entered the geopolitical spotlight — Mir Yar Baloch, a Baloch nationalist leader. As the hashtag #RepublicOfBalochistan trends globally, Mir Yar Baloch has declared Balochistan independent from Pakistan and urged the international community to recognise it as a sovereign nation.
Who is Mir Yar Baloch?
Mir Yar Baloch, who describes himself as a writer, freelance journalist, human rights activist, and representative of the Free Baloch Movement, made a bold announcement this week: “Balochistan is not Pakistan.” He cited decades of military oppression, enforced disappearances, and human rights violations as the reason behind the breakaway declaration.
Mir Yar Baloch calls for embassy in Delhi
In a series of posts on social media platform X, Mir Yar Baloch urged the Indian government to permit the establishment of a Baloch embassy in New Delhi. He also called on the United Nations to send peacekeeping forces to Balochistan and demanded an immediate withdrawal of the Pakistani Army from the region.

“The world can’t be a silent spectator anymore,” he said, asserting that Baloch people have delivered their “national verdict” for independence. His message, “Tum Maroge Hum Niklenge, Hum Nasal Bachany Nikle Hain, Aao Hamara Sath Do,” has resonated with Baloch communities and supporters online.
Balochistan supports India’s stand on PoK
In another sharp statement, Mir Yar Baloch expressed full support for India’s call for Pakistan to vacate Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). He compared the situation to the 1971 war, warning Pakistan of a repeat humiliation unless it ceases using PoK residents as “human shields.”
“India is capable of defeating the Pakistan Army,” he said, urging the international community to hold Islamabad accountable for the ongoing conflict and potential bloodshed.

India-Pakistan tension
Mir Yar Baloch’s declaration came shortly after India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terror camps in Pakistan and PoK in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. Pakistan responded with drone swarms, missiles, and shelling, prompting India to intercept the threats and down Pakistani jets and an AWACS aircraft.
