A man identified as 27-year-old Manpreet Singh from Brampton, Ontario, is wanted in connection with the murder of a woman named Amanpreet Saini, according to the Niagara Regional Police Service. Authorities have now reason to believe that the Indian-origin individual may have fled the country after the incident.

“Investigators have information to suggest that Singh fled the country shortly after Amanpreet’s body was discovered,” the Niagara Regional Police Service said in a statement.

A NDTV report citing sources suggested that the homicide suspect’s family is from Punjab, and he has since escaped to India. Moreover, Canadian agencies are believed to have reached out to Indian counterparts in light of the case.

Issuing a strict warning to citizens, authorities have urged people not to approach Manpreet in case they spot him. “Call 911 immediately,” the wanted poster for Incident: 25-123145 added.

27-year-old Saini, who was from North York’s Toronto suburb, was found dead at Charles Daley Park in Lincoln, Ontario, on October 21. On Friday, official said they had issued a Canada-wide warrant for the man’s arrest for second-degree murder.

According to a new release, the incident is being labelled as a “targeted attack with no ongoing threat to public safety.” It further detailed that Amanpreet Saini’s body was discovered at 11 am Tuesday local time with “traumatic injuries.”

Amanpreet Saini was reportedly from Punjab’s Sangrur district, and was living in Toronto in the recent past.
