Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday voiced his admiration for India’s leadership and its unwavering dedication to national interests. He also hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “a very wise man” who has guided New Delhi to remarkable progress and development.

Putin criticises the West’s approach

Vladimir Putin alleged that the West is attempting to label those who do not blindly follow Western elites as enemies, reported ANI. He highlighted their changing approach towards India, from criticism to engagement. Putin highlighted the situation in Asia, emphasizing that India’s leadership is independent and driven by its national interests.

He expressed his belief that such efforts are futile, even though they persist. Furthermore, Putin mentioned that similar efforts are being made to portray Arabs as adversaries, albeit with caution, ultimately emphasizing the recurring pattern.

Call for UN Security Council Reform

The Russian President also advocated for greater representation of countries like India, Brazil, and South Africa in the UN Security Council, ANI reported. He suggested gradual reforms for the United Nations.

Praise for PM Modi

Putin commended PM Modi‘s wisdom and recognized India’s development under his leadership. According to a video shared by RT news, Putin said that India is a country with more than 1.5 billion of population and over 7 percent of economic growth.

He called India a “powerful” and “mighty” country. Last month, he had praised Modi’s promotion of the “Make in India” program.
