In a historic meeting at the White House on Wednesday, President Joe Biden welcomed President-elect Donald Trump to the Oval Office. The two leaders committed to ensuring a seamless transfer of power on January 20, a process that had faced disruptions four years ago.

“Welcome back,” Biden said to Trump, extending a handshake. Congratulating the President-elect, Biden expressed his hopes for a smooth transition. “Well, Mr. President-elect, Donald, congratulations… and I look forward to having a smooth transition. Welcome,” Biden said.

Trump echoed the sentiment in his remarks. “Politics is tough, and it’s, in many cases, not a very nice world, but it is a nice world today, and I appreciate it very much. The transition is so smooth, and it will be as smooth as it can get,” he noted.

The First Lady was also present in the welcoming ceremony and greeted Trump by presenting a handwritten letter of congratulations for Melania Trump. The letter emphasized her team’s readiness to assist with the transition, underscoring a renewed sense of unity and cooperation.

Both leaders pledged to uphold the traditions of democracy as they prepare for the upcoming transfer of power.
