US President Donald Trump appears to have entirely ruled out possibility of pardoning rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. The disgraced music mogul was convicted on two charges of transportation to engage in prostitution, while other major charges against him were dropped following his July trial.

He has since broken his silence on whether he would be granting clemency to the late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s longtime accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence, given the current developments in the scandal. In a new interview, the 79-year-old politician asserted he wanted to “released everything” the government has on the convicted financier. “…just don’t want people to get hurt,” he added.

A new Bloomberg report has also dropped the bombshell that the American leader’s leader was, in fact, mentioned in the so-called Epstein Files, but his name was “redacted.” However, no piece of evidence has yet linked him to a crime or suggested wrongdoing in connection with the convicted sex offender who died in his prison cell in 2019.

Where does Trump stand on the Diddy pardon issue?

In a recent interview with Newsmax, Donald Trump was asked if he would consider pardoning the controversial hip hop mogul. Calling him “half innocent,” the POTUS went on to share how he once shared “friendly” ties with the rapper.

“I got along with him great, and seemed like a nice guy,” he said initially, while eventually revealing how they had a fall out. As it seems to be the case, Trump’s decision appeared to be more fuelled by the fact Diddy basically turned into more of his non-supporter.

Trump divulged that Diddy got “hostile” during the 2020 election term. During the interview broadcast on Friday he further admitted how Combs’ behaviour transition “makes it more difficult” for him to pardon him. As of now, the MAGA leader’s answer is tilting towards a “more likely no.”

Back in May, Trump briefly addressed the issue, saying he hadn’t seen or spoken to the rapper in years. “He used to really like me a lot, but I think when I ran for politics… that relationship busted up, from that I read. I don’t know — he didn’t tell me that, but I’d read some little bit nasty statements,” he said a White House event.

His latest comments on the matter followed a Deadline report titled “Trump Now “Seriously Considering” Pardon For Sean Combs Ahead Of Sentencing; White House Officially Says Nothing” published on July 29. Meanwhile, Diddy is being held in a federal lockup in New York City, as he awaits his October 3 sentencing.

Ghislaine Maxwell moves to new prison – What we know so far

According to the federal Bureau of Prison, the former British socialite had been transferred to a prison camp in Bryan, Texas, where Jen Shah of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is also being held.

Not much information related to the decision was revealed by the officials. Even her attorney, David Oscar Markus, declined to share the reason behind the move, as per the Associated Press. Until now, she was being held at a low-security prison in Tallahassee, Florida, which are deemed more restrictive than minimum-security ones.

What may particularly catch one off-guard is that sex offenders, such as Maxwell herself, are not held in less restrictive prisons. However, the shift has indeed been made, and that too just days after two-day interviews with DOJ’s Deputy General Todd Blanche over the Epstein Files. The Bureau of Prison, which also comes under Justice Department, notes that Maxwell’s new facility has “dormitory housing, a relatively low staff-to-inmate ratio, and limited or no perimeter fencing.” On the contrary, her previous low-security prison had “doubled-fenced perimeters.”

Ghislaine Maxwell clemency addressed

When it comes to granting Maxwell clemency, Trump told Newsmax that though he is allowed to go it, nobody has asked him to do it yet. “I know nothing about it. I don’t know anything about the case, but I know I have the right to do it. I have the right to give pardons, I’ve given pardons to people before, but nobody’s even asked me to do it,” he added.

Prosecutors have maintained that Epstein could not have gone on about his sex crimes without Maxwell, who is also his ex-girlfriend. Her lawyers say otherwise and have even urged the US Supreme Court to take up her case.

As for what she told Todd Blance during the two-day interactions last week, Trump said that he had no clue about when the senior DOJ official would publicly reveal what they talked about. “I think he just wants to make sure that innocent people aren’t hurt, but you’d have to speak to him about it,” he affirmed.
