Prominent Filipino television host Kim Atienza’s family has announced the passing of their young daughter, Emman Atienza, fondly known as Emmanuelle. She was just 19 years old, and died in Los Angeles, according to reports.
“t’s with deep sadness that we share the unexpected passing of our daughter and sister, Emman. She brought so much joy, laughter, and love into our lives and into the lives of everyone who knew her,” her heartbroken family said in a statement shared to Instagram.
“Emman had a way of making people feel seen and heard, and she wasn’t afraid to share her own journey with mental health. Her authenticity helped so many feel less alone. To honour Emman’s memory, we hope you carry forward the qualities she lived by: compassion, courage, and a little extra kindness in your everyday life.”
Who was Kim Atienza?
Best known as a social media influencer to young internet users, the rising star held her own as a mental health advocate, with TikTok as the platform where she expressed her thoughts the most.
The Philippines-based, GMA Network Inc-owned Sparkle GMA Artist Centre’s roster boarded her as one of the many beloved ‘Artists.’ Emman’s official profile on the talent agency’s website confirms she was born on February 8 and was an “up-and-coming influencer, fashion-lover and Gen Z personality,” who particularly enjoyed viral fame thanks to her TikTok videos showcasing her English accent. As a result, he had earned the nickname “Cono Final Boss.”
The teen influencer was the youngest daughter of TV host Kim Atienza and Philippine Eagle Foundation President Felicia Hung, and granddaughter of former Manila mayor Lito Atienza. As far as her heritage identity goes, she was Half Filipino, Half Taiwanese, and had enrolled at Parsons Summer Academy in New York. While there, participated in an intensive design course for young artists under Parsons School of Design.
Back in 2022, she even made her mark in the fashion industry by making her catwalk debut in Bench Fashion Week. During her middle school years, she was passionate about gymnastics and ballet, reflecting her love for working out, which has since reflected in her Instagram posts as well.
Despite being a fitness enthusiast, she often spoke out in favour of body positivity, urging even her followers to embrace themselves and distance themselves from unrealistic beauty standards. On social media, she also bared her heart, while opening up about battling bipolar disorder and facing bullying.
Emman Atienza’s agency pays tribute
Sparkle GMA Artist Centre joined many others in paying tribute to the vlogger online. In an Instagram post dedicated to the late star, they wrote, “Our sincere condolences go out to her family and loved ones. She will always be remembered as a cherished part of the Sparkle and Status by Sparkle family.”
Emman Atienza’s cause of death has yet to be officially confirmed.
