American musician Camryn Magness has sadly died after she was fatally struck while riding an electric scooter in Florida, as per People. The pop star was just 26 years old. She was best known for performing alongside the likes of One Direction, Fifth Harmony, Cody Simpson and Greyson Chance as a support act on tour.

Although the heartbreaking news was majorly relayed by US news outlet People, it broke cover on social media as well.

“Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of our beloved Camryn, a radiant force whose voice, coy, and bright spirit touched so man,” read the caption on a recently shared Instagram post on the ‘camrynrocks’ profile.

The post showing Magness swimming in the ocean added, “Whether beneath the waves or on stage, she met life with fearless energy and boundless kindness. In the quiet between waves, her memory will surface—bright, bold, unforgotten. Rest in endless blue, our sweet girl. You are deeply loved and forever cherished. Please keep her family and friends in prayer as they navigate this difficult time. Camryn will live on in our hearts forever.”

People ultimately confirmed that the 26-year-old singer passed away after being at the centre of a road accident. More details on the same are still awaited.

Who was Camryn Magness?

Born on July 14, 1999, in Denver, Magness previously joined forces with the band Blessed by a Broken Heart, with her own debut song “Wait and See” coming out in 2010. The same was later featured in the film adaptation of the book “Judy Moody and the The Not Bummer Summer.”

According to an interview with Teen Vogue in 2012, Magness kicked off her career at the young age of 8. Her humble beginnings involved recording a demo and sending to her future manager, Jeff Pringle.

Magness also enjoyed her share of YouTube fame, as she shared videos of herself singing on the public platform back then. She gained attention after Greyson Chance and Cody Simpson caught note of her. Consequently, Magness went on to open for their ‘Waiting 4U Tour’ in 2010. Two years later, she again joined Chance for his solo 2012 arena tour.

That same year, she came onstage with One Direction for their iconic first tour, the Up All Night Tour. As a result, she was asked to take on the role of their opening act for seven shows, according to Teem Vogue. She again joined the beloved band for their 2013 Take Me Home tour.

Detailing her connection with One Direction in a 2012 CBS News interview, she said of opening for the UK group, “It was the biggest audience I ever played to. So, going in there, I didn’t really know what to expect. And I think that’s the worst part — going in there, you don’t know whether they’re going to like you, or they’re going to hate you. At the end of it all, it went amazing and I made a lot of new fans and friends.”

Further opening up about them, Magness called the One Direction members “really sweet.” In the same interview, it was revealed that the budding singer even opened for Selena Gomez at one point.

In 2016, Magness opened for Fifth Harmony on their 7/25 Tour. As per Magness’ Spotify profile, she last released an album called “Love Maps” in 2021.

According to an obituary released online, Camryn is survived by her parents, Sarah and Gary, siblings Chelsea and Cable, and her fiance Christian Name.

The obituary calls Name “the love of her life,” adding, “Together they were building dreams for a future filled with joy, partnership, and possibility; not only for themselves, but most importantly, for their fiercely loved dogs, Brooklyn and Zeppelin.”
