A weekend party in North Carolina went disastrously off the rails on Saturday morning — with at least two dead and several others critically injured. The attack took place in a rural area some 150 kilometers southwest of Raleigh near the South Carolina border. The office of Robeson County Sheriff Burnis Wilkins said in a news release that 13 individuals were shot and more than 150 fled the location before law enforcement officers arrived.

An official statement said the Sheriff’s Office was working with multiple agencies to investigate the mass shooting incident. An update shared on social media platforms also urged people with relevant information to come forward to aid the probe.

“There is no current threat to the community as this appears to have been an isolated incident. More than 150 of people ran from the location before law enforcement arrived. We are asking that anyone with information regarding this incident or anyone that was at the scene when the shooting occurred, to make contact with the Sheriff’s investigators,” the post added.
