Elon Musk accused Donald Trump of being linked to Jeffrey Epstein, the infamous sex offender. Musk said that’s the reason why the Epstein investigation files haven’t been fully released to the public. He made the explosive claim on his social media platform, X.
Musk has also said publicly that US President Donald Trump “should be impeached” and that Vice President JD Vance should take his place. This comes after a major fallout between Musk and Trump, who were once close allies but are now in the middle of an ugly public fight. Things escalated quickly when
“Time to drop the really big bomb: Donald Trump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!”

Musk posted this shortly after Trump said at a press conference that he was “disappointed with Elon” for not supporting his ‘Big Beautiful Bill.’
Musk didn’t stop there. He added: “Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.”

Then, he backed another post that called for Trump to be impeached.
Until recently, Trump and Musk were praising each other all the time. But everything changed last week, especially in the last 24 hours, after the controversial ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ passed. Both men strongly disagree on the bill and now, they’re openly attacking each other.
Trump criticised Musk during a White House press briefing, while pushing the bill that could hurt electric vehicle companies like Tesla. Musk hit back hard, reminding Trump that he supported him financially and morally during the last election, even pouring in hundreds of millions of dollars.
“Elon and I had a great relationship. I don’t know if we will any more,” Trump said at the briefing. He also added: “He hasn’t said bad about me personally, but I’m sure that’ll be next.”
Musk fired back quickly, writing:
“Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate… Such ingratitude.”
As Tesla’s stock dropped after the bill passed, Musk posted a string of angry messages online, calling the bill “The Big Ugly Bill.” But the biggest shock was his claim about Trump being part of the Epstein files – something that’s likely to stir up serious trouble in Washington.
People had been wondering whether Musk and Trump’s loud, brash friendship would crash and burn. It has – in under a year.
Who was Jeffrey Epstein?
Jeffrey Epstein was a convicted sex offender and trafficker, accused of abusing young girls and trafficking them to powerful men around the world. Many women said Epstein forced them to have sex with him and his famous guests at his island and luxury homes. Epstein, originally from New York, started as a teacher and later got into banking and business. He became rich and built ties with celebrities, politicians and businessmen, many of whom were later accused of being part of his crimes.
In 2005, police in Florida started looking into Epstein after a parent said he abused her 14-year-old daughter. The investigation revealed that Epstein had abused 36 girls, some as young as 14. He pleaded guilty in 2008 to just two charges and spent only 13 months in jail, thanks to a deal that let him avoid tougher punishment.
Then, in 2019, Epstein was arrested again, this time for sex trafficking minors in New York and Florida. Just a month later, he died by suicide in jail, which ended the case and stopped any further legal action against his connections.
What are the Epstein files?
The Epstein files are a collection of material found during the investigation, including names, call logs, messages, videos and contact lists. The US government has confirmed that they’re still reviewing the Epstein materials, but only a few documents have been released publicly.
In February 2025, a Justice Department document revealed that Donald Trump, Michael Jackson, Alec Baldwin and Harvey Weinstein were in Epstein’s contact list. But the details of how they were connected or what role they played have not been made public.
Other names on the list included Andrew Cuomo, Mick Jagger, Courtney Love, Naomi Campbell, Ethel Kennedy, John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, Alan Dershowitz, Dustin Hoffman and Ralph Fiennes. Even Trump’s ex-wife Ivana and daughter Ivanka were mentioned.
Flight logs from Epstein’s private jet also named Bill Clinton, Donald Trump, Kevin Spacey, Prince Andrew, and many others. There’s also a list of over 250 masseuses, but their names have been blacked out to protect their identities.
Still, apart from the list of names, most of the information from the investigation remains secret. According to Elon Musk, the reason for that secrecy is that Trump’s name is in the files. While Musk hasn’t shown any proof yet, he insists: “The truth will come out.”
