US President Donald Trump accused Barack Obama of ‘treason’ on Tuesday — claiming that Democrats had tried to “steal and obfuscate” the 2016 election. The remarks also came less than a day after the POTUS uploaded an AI-generated video of Obama being arrested by the FBI on Truth Social. Controversy arose last week after Tulsi Gabbard declassified several documents to allege that US officials “manufactured and politicized intelligence” to create a “treasonous conspiracy”. Director of National Intelligence contends that the Obama-Biden government had falsely claimed that Russian interfered in the 2016 elections to help Trump win.

“If you look at that, those papers, they have them stone cold, and it was President Obama. It wasn’t lots of people all over the place. It was them too. But the leader of the gang was President Obama, Barack Hussein Obama…he’s guilty. It’s not a question…It’s there. He’s guilty. This was treason. They tried to steal the election. They tried to obfuscate the election. They did things that nobody’s ever even imagined, even in other countries,” Trump alleged.

Trump posts AI video of Obama arrest

Trump on Monday shared an AI-generated video of showing former President Barack Obama being arrested. The AI video that was shared on Trump’s Truth Social platform shows the former President being arrested by FBI agents in the Oval Office at the White House. In the clip Obama is heard saying “especially the President is above the law,” followed by a montage of various US leaders asserting, “no one is above the law.” The video also shows two FBI agents handcuffing Obama in the Oval Office while Trump watches from the sidelines with a grin. The video ends with shots of Obama dressed in an orange jumpsuit sitting, and pacing inside a jail.

‘Conspiracy, manufactured intelligence against Trump’

The Obama government had suggested the possibility of Russian interference in the 2016 US elections. US intelligence agencies later concluded that Moscow had launched an elaborate bid to derail the presidential campaign of Hillary Clinton and benefit Donald Trump. The Republican leader has repeatedly denied the claim and insists that the investigation was a baseless ‘hoax’. Tulsi Gabbard claimed this month that recently declassified documents backed the assertions made by Trump over the years.

Gabbard had called for the Obama administration to be “prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law” on Friday — alleging a “conspiracy” by which officials “manufactured” intelligence to claim that Russia interfered in the 2016 election to boost Trump’s presidential campaign. The US Director of National Intelligence — a former Democratic lawmaker — claimed there was “overwhelming evidence” that Obama and Gabbard, her press release claims, declassified documents that “revealed overwhelming evidence” allegedly showing Obama and national security officials “manufactured and politicized intelligence to lay the groundwork” for what she called a “years-long coup against President Trump”.
