Colleges are opening to new semesters and new enrollments, but it seems like a high-profile New York University student hasn’t returned yet. A new report claimed that many people have missed out on catching Barron Trump on the campus for about seven months.
Donald and Melania Trump’s son enrolled at the elite school in September 2024, arriving at the scene flanked by Service Service agents on his first day at the time. However, the towering student whose height goes beyond 6 feet appears to be missing from NYU this academic year. An Irish Star report published this week cited Rob Shuter’s interactions with multiple classmates, college insiders and sources, who have not seen Barron despite the new semester being in full swing.
Barron Trump missing from NYU despite sophomore year’s commencement
Several responders noted that someone like Barron was hard to miss, especially considering how tall he is. While the young Trump’s presence drew massive attention last year, the reason behind his recent absence remains unclear. It has yet to be determined whether he’ll be joining the university late or if something else led him to completely pull out from the institution.
“Not a single student has seen him,” shared a source with Shuter. “Everyone knows the President’s son is supposed to be here, but it’s like he’s a ghost.” A university insider even hinted at prevalent conspiracy theories spreading around about Barron Trump. “People joke he’s only enrolled on paper,” they claimed. A third person added, “If he were walking around campus, people would know. You don’t overlook someone that tall.”
Shuter’s previous report alleged details about Barron’s freshman year. While other stories have long hinted at his potential love life during college days, the British-American gossip columnist suggested he barely went to the university, and in case he did, he would keep a low-profile and stay out of focus.
Melania Trump ‘worries’ about Barron: Report
The recent claims about Barron’s absence from NYU come shortly after an exclusive People story quoted a political source opening up about First Lady Melania Trump’s concerns about her son ahead of his second year at New York University’s Stern School of Business.
The insider reported that Melania was constantly fixated on her son’s well-being and kept a watch on him “to be sure nobody messes with him or bullies him.” The source added, “This is a constant worry for her. She always knows where he is and what he’s doing.”
Back in December, another source told the outlet that Melania had arranged to keep her son out of “living in a dorm in a college town.” At the time, the insider pressed that the first lady felt compelled that it was best for Barron to live at home. “Whether or not others think he is capable of being on his own, Melania feels it’s better to be around him as much as possible,” they said, adding that since the NYU student has his “own political ideas… it all needs to be monitored in light of the situation.”
NYU professor allegedly said Barron Trump shouldn’t be on campus
The new revelations also follow a months-old report that pushed Barron didn’t belong at NYU. An influencer, fellow NYU student, Maria Arana, previously told Vanity Fair that even though she hadn’t really seen Trump’s youngest child in the halls, she could sense the politics settling into a more reserved tone on the liberal campus due to his father.
“I’ve seen a lot of people just kind of keep it more to themselves,” she acknowledged, remembering a professor’s dig at Barron: “he doesn’t really belong here.”
Even at the time, several students maintained that Barron wasn’t all that active on the NYU campus or other activities, which all the more inflated the mysterious aura around his personality and fuelled such claims based on what was heard on the grapevine.
