How did the New York bus crash happen?
According to state police Maj. Andre Ray’s revelations during an evening news conference, the tour bus driver – who survived the accident – is believed to have gotten distracted while driving the vehicle. He eventually lost control and overcorrected moments prior to the bus flipping over shortly before 12:30 pm (local time) on the eastbound side of Interstate 90 in Pembroke, New York.
“Several witnesses observed the bus lose control, enter the median, then cross to the southern shoulder and overturn,” read a news release.
As authorities dig further into the case amid the preliminary stages of the investigation, it has yet to be discovered what caused the driver to become distracted while en route to New York City.
The state police said the M&Y Tour Inc-owned bus did not face a mechanical failure at the time of the crash. Moreover, driver impairment was also ruled out. At the time of writing, no charges had been filed. Notably, no other vehicles were hit by the bus travelling at full speed during the accident.
