US State Secretary Marco Rubio announced a new US visa restriction policy on Thursday, September 4 (US time). According to the latest press release by the Department of State, the Donald Trump administration will be blocking visa for Central American nationals “acting on behalf” of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
In an attempt to counter “China’s corrupt influence” in the region and stop the country from subverting rule of law, the US State Department took the major step as detailed in the new announcement. Rubio’s official message asserted that the actions were in line with US President Donald Trump’s commitment “America’s economic prosperity and national security interests.”

The concerned parties have been red-flagged for “knowingly” directing, authorising, funding, providing significant support to, or carrying out activities undermining the rule of law in Central America.
As per the press release, “These actions are being taken pursuant to Section 212(a)(3)(C) of the Immigration and Nationality Act.”
