JD Vance sparked confusion on Tuesday after posting an exultant social media update about his ‘exciting’ work as US Vice President. The post came even as Donald Trump headed for a NATO meeting and reiterated calls for a truce between Israel and Iran — hours after announcing a ‘complete and total’ ceasefire. Vance had also made waves over the weekend after a bizarre media appearance following US strikes against three nuclear sites.
“I wonder if other VPs had as much excitement as I do,” Vance wrote on X alongside a laughing emoji.
The post has since garnered thousands of admiring and amused comments from fans — with high-profile individuals such as Laura Loomer and Donald Trump Jr taking swipes at the previous administration in the comment section. Others were less entertained by the post and critisised Vance’s choice of words.
“Excitement when people are dying?” asked one horrified user.
“Let’s have some excitement in America, and let’s stop the needless focus on foreign countries,” urged another.
Vance appeared on Meet the Press over the weekend as the US launched three strikes at Iranian nuclear sites. Some of his responses have since gone viral with many on social media wondering if the US Vice President had even know about the attack plan.
“I don’t know that any of us knew exactly when the president made the decision, except for the president himself. The final decision, of course, is made right before…that was last night,” he explained upon being asked “exactly when” Trump had made the decision.
He also insisted during the interview that Americans had been under “dumb presidents” for the past 25 years while backing decisions taken by Trump. It is pertinent to note that the Republican leader is currently serving his second term in office after leading the country between 2017 and 2021.
“I empathize with Americans who are exhausted after 25 years of foreign entanglements in the Middle East. I understand the concern, but the difference is that back then we had dumb presidents and now we actually have a president who actually knows how to accomplish America’s national security objectives,” Vance elaborated.
