A newly released set of documents from the US Department of Justice (DOJ) has exposed an unsettling look into Jeffrey Epstein‘s online shopping habits, revealing a disturbing array of purchases from his Amazon account.
The receipts, dating from 2014 to 2019, include more than 1,000 items that paint a troubling picture of the convicted sex offender’s interests and behaviour.
This came after the DOJ unveiled over a million documents related to Epstein. The department said it may take “a few more weeks” to review and release them to the public. According to CNN, about 750,000 documents have already been reviewed and released, with roughly 700,000 more left to examine.
What did Epstein purchase?
Among the most shocking items in Epstein’s Amazon history were schoolgirl uniforms, including pleated skirts and full-body dresses, ordered and shipped to his Manhattan residence in 2018. These purchases were documented in the DOJ’s newly released files and highlight a pattern that experts say aligns with Epstein’s predatory behaviour, according to New York Post.
In addition to the school uniforms, the shopping history included a range of peculiar and starkly contrasting purchases. Epstein bought multiple pairs of binoculars, with records showing at least nine delivered to his homes in Manhattan, West Palm Beach, and his private island in the US Virgin Islands.
Psychologist reviews Epstein’s shopping list
Epstein’s sordid shopping list was not random, but in fact constituted a “map of power,” relational trauma psychologist Desiree Nazarian told New York Post.
“The presence of these child-coded items alongside these sexual tools is so clinically alarming,” she said.
Epstein’s Amazon purchases displayed “predatory dynamics 101,” and was emblematic of a personality that craved domination and could be a harm to others, she added.
Epstein was a registered sex offender who died in a New York jail cell in August 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. His death cut short further legal scrutiny, but the ongoing release of court records continues to shed light on his life and actions.
“Everything on this list is really common in predatory profiles. It’s marked by coercion, entitlement, dominance and control of narrative,” she further said.
