A joint probe into the disgraced late financier Jeffrey Epstein’s case led the US Justice Department and FBI to conclude that there was no “client list” despite all the hefty promises to expose him. As a result, many have turned against US President Donald Trump, accusing him of outrightly lying to the public. His former ally and campaign donor Elon Musk also made the most of the situation in light of their fractured bromance, hitting it out against the 79-year-old American leader on social media in a series of posts.

Shortly after the document detailing the Epstein scandal conclusions was released (first reported by Axios), the Tesla CEO dropped multiple scathing tweets. Over a day after taking a “pedophile” dig at Trump, Musk returned to his X profile. Unloading his wrath once again, he raised a much-contested question: “How can people be expected to have faith in Trump if he won’t release the Epstein files?”

Now that the billionaire tech titan has announced his new political party, ‘America Party,’ in his bid to challenge the country’ uni-party system, someone asked him if “exposing the Epstein files” ranked high on his list. Musk curtly responded to the comment with the “100” emoji, signalling yet another shallow promise before his brand-new political venture takes off the ground in real time.

Netizens bring back Elon Musk’s ‘Fauci Files’, question his ties to Epstein

In the wake of the general public reeling from the Trump admin’s shocking admission, barely anyone bought Musk’s claims. Democratic influencer Harry Sisson attacked his prior pro-Trump stance, asking, “Why did you spend so much to elect him then???”

Yet another user wondered if the SpaceX boss would consider taking up the issue on a potential “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast outing. Joe Rogan is yet another high-profile Trump supporter who recently criticised the president’s cruel immigration crackdown and ICE raids.

On the other hand, some brought back the “Twitter files on Fauci” into question. Two years ago, Musk promised to release the so-called ‘Fauci Files’ “later this week. While it remained unclear what this supposed internal Twitter documents would contain, the Tesla chief had previously claimed that he had found some dirt in conversations between the social media platform’s executives and government health officials over their handling of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Much like Trump hyping the once-upon-a-time delivery of the ‘Epstein files,’ Elon Musk made bold promises he couldn’t live up to. Either way, Dr Anthony Fauci, the former Chief Medical Advisor to the President, was granted “a full and unconditional pardon” earlier this year by Joe Biden, dispelling accusations of any wrongdoing.

In a new argument altogether, someone even dug a 2020 Business Insider report titled “Jeffrey Epstein set Elon Musk’s brother up with a girlfriend in effort to get close to the Tesla founder, sources say.” Considering how the tech mogul previously dropped the bombshell that Trump was in the ‘Epstein files,’ a netizen couldn’t help but mull over “What happened here?” referring to the years-old headline.

Were Elon Musk and Jeffrey Epstein close? Zuckerberg dragged into mix

Five years ago, two sources told the outlet that the multi-millionaire sex criminal introduced Kimbal Musk, to a woman whom he had previously dated. The person, who is said to have been a member of Epstein’s entourage reportedly went on to date Elon’s brother from 2011 to 2012.

While its unclear how Kimbal and the sex offender met in the first place, one of the sources insisted on the “transactional” nature of the exchanges. He added, “The rumor has always been that Epstein facilitated introductions to beautiful women, looking for deal flow or access to capital. And the provenance of [Kimbal Musk’s relationship to the woman] was right down the path of that.”

The Tesla and SpaceX leader himself crossed paths with Epstein at a dinner organised by LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman before the disgraced financier’s death. Addressing a past meet-up, he downplayed it saying, “was at his house in Manhattan for about 30 minutes in the middle of the afternoon” since his then-wife Talulah Riley urged him to meet him “for a novel she was writing.”

With Vanity Fair reporting at the time that Elon Musk introduced Mark Zuckerberg to Epstein at the event, he added in an email response, “I don’t recall introducing Epstein to anyone, as I don’t know the guy well enough to do so, Epstein is obviously a creep and Zuckerberg is not a friend of mine.” He also maintained that he did not encounter anything inappropriate back then “apart from weird art.” Per Musk’s account, Epstein repeatedly tried to get him to visit his infamous island, but he declined the offer.

A spokesperson for the billionaire also responded: “Elon never introduced Jeffrey Epstein to Mark Zuckerberg and does not know either person well enough to do so. They simply happened to be guests at a neuroscience dinner organized by Reid Hoffman.”

Musk was subpoenaed in Epstein case

As part of a lawsuit filed by the US Virgin Islands against JPMorgan Chase & Co, Elon Musk was served a subpoena in 2023. With this move, they sought proof in case Epstein ever tried referring Musk to the banking company.

Slamming Epstein as a “dumb crook,” Elon wrote on X at the time, “This is idiotic on so many levels.”

He went on to explain: “1. That cretin never advised me on anything whatsoever. 2. The notion that I would need or listen to financial advice from a dumb crook is absurd. 3. JPM let Tesla down ten years ago, despite having Tesla’s global commercial banking business, which we then withdrew. I have never forgiven them.”

Elon Musk and Ghislaine Maxwell

A picture of Musk and convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell, an associate of Epstein, captured them partying together at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party in March 2014. As it is the only known picture of the two, the Tesla boss has endlessly been confronted about it online. In 2020, he set the record straight, saying that he doesn’t know Ghislaine.

Responding to a netizen back in the day, he wrote, “She photobombed me once at a Vanity Fair party several years ago. Real question is why VF invited her in the first place.”

Months later, he addressed the issue again, saying, “I was at that Vanity Fair party with @TalulahRiley. Don’t know Ghislaine. Real question is why did VF invite her?”

Despite speaking out against allegations of him being close to Maxwell, Musk was again dragged back into the same pool of accusations this week, as the same sole picture of the unlikely pair was shared in his comments section.

From ‘Trump will release Epstein files’ to no ‘client list’

According to a memo diving deep into the findings of the review under the Donald Trump administration, officials pointed to a lack of evidence that could prove the sex offender blackmailed high-profile figures.

Snubbing other popular theories surrounding the convicted pedophile’s life, death and connections, the review further indicated that Epstein died by suicide while he was being held at a Manhattan correctional facility in August 2019.

“This systematic review revealed no incriminating ‘client list.’ There was also no credible evidence found that Epstein blackmailed prominent individuals as part of his actions,” the DOJ and FBI said in a two-page memo.

The unprecedented plot twist made shockwaves across the Internet this week after Trump himself, as well as as his MAGA influencers-turned-government officials, including FBI Director Kash Patel, said during the Republican’s 2024 presidential campaign that they would release the ‘Epstein files’ if he comes back for a second office term. With Trump elected as the 47th POTUS, newly-appointed Pam Bondi reiterated the sentiment in a Fox News interview in February – the same month she was sworn in as Attorney General.

At the time, she remarked how the ‘Epstein files’ were “sitting on my desk right now,” adding it had “been a directive by President Trump.” Around the same, a group of 15 right-wing influencers arriving at the White House were handed out binders labelled “The Epstein Files: Phase 1.”

Alas, all that noise that dissolved into nothing this week.
