US-based journalist Matt Forney was fired by The Blaze within a week, reportedly after his “concerning” posts on social media. Forney said that the outlet did not clarify which specific posts led to the decision. The termination came after he made anti-India and racist remarks.
“I have been let go from THE BLAZE,” Forney wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
He added, “My Tweeting was cited as ‘concern[ing]’. I was not given specific examples of Tweets that they were ‘concerned’ about, and THE BLAZE had reached out to me BECAUSE of my Tweeting in the first place.”
He went on to say, “I wish them well and have no further comment.”

Matt Forney’s post on Indian-origin CEO
On November 4, Forney sparked outrage on social media after posting on X that the US should “deport every Indian” and calling Etsy’s incoming CEO “unqualified”. His remarks came in response to the announcement of Indian-origin Kruti Patel Goyal’s appointment as the next CEO of Etsy Inc.
“Yet another unqualified Indian takes over an American company. And I guarantee her first action will be to fire every American and replace them with other Indians, either directly or via bodyshops,” he went on to say.

DEI: Deport Every Indian. https://t.co/BHFE62kCc0
This was not the only anti-India post on his profile. In fact, his social media account is filled with similar posts, carrying the hashtag “Operation Chimp Out” – a derogatory and racist term used for Indians.
The backlash
Renu Mukherjee, fellow at the Manhattan Institute, in response to his post, wrote, “Well, The Blaze just hired a ‘reporter’ whose entire beat is, apparently, to demonise a single ethnic group in the US-Indian Americans. ‘DEI’ or ‘Deport Every Indian’ as he writes,” she said.
Mukherjee added, “This will end terribly for the GOP, who made substantial gains with Indian voters in 2024.”
“How do you know she is unqualified? Have you reviewed her résumé versus the other candidates?” one social media user said.
Another commented, “Lol. Doubt you worked in corporate. For anyone to be promoted this highly means they’ve done a lot of the right things. She’s smarter than you.”
“Let’s set aside her incredible 27 years of humble experience and look at her qualifications first! Think about it: does your entire resume even have as many lines as her years of service?” yet another comment from a social media user read.
In a pinned post on X, Forney announced his association with The Blaze. “I’m pleased to announce that The Blaze has hired me as a reporter on H-1B/Indian issues,” he said on X while sharing the link to his article on the H-1B and DEI-fueled collapse of USAA.
