Just ahead of the American Independence Day on July 4, US President Donald Trump announced that the White House will be hosting a full-fledged UFC Championship fight next year to commemorate the nation’s upcoming 250th birthday.

“Does anybody watch UFC? The great Dana White? We’re going to have a UFC fight. We’re going to have a UFC fight — think of this — on the grounds of the White House,” he made the stunning admission at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.

A day before the United States officially kicked off colourful exuberance and festivities tied to its Independence Day extravaganza, the official White House website commenced a momentous countdown to America’s 250th Anniversary.

“On July 4, 2026, America will celebrate the most important milestone in our country’s history—250 years of American Independence,” the website said. In an official statement highlighted on the page dedicated to the ‘America250’ affair, the WH said the Salute to American 250 Task Force (“Task Force 250”) had began planning a full years of celebrations that would continue all through July 4, 2026.

Donald Trump’s UFC collaboration deepens

The UFC event at the White House then comes under the larger slate of commemorative schedules linked to the ‘America250’ effort, which marks the nation’s 250 years since the Declaration of Independence was signed.

Trump’s latest UFC venture only adds to his long-running association with his staunch ally and supporter, UFC President Dana White. As per the president’s description, White would be on hand to organise the event that would ultimately take place on the White House lawn, hosting up to 25,000 attendees.

“Dana is great, one of a kind,” Trump added. “We’re going to do that as part of ‘250’ also.” Despite the Republican leader’s jaw-dropping revelation, it remains unclear whether the “championship fight” has officially received clearance from the White House, Secret Service or city officials. While UFC had yet to make an official comment on the development at the time of writing, Dana White seemingly affirmed the stunning statement by re-posting a related social media post on X.

Just last month, Donald Trump made a fist-pumping entrance at an UFC 316 event in Newark amid Los Angeles riots. Visuals of him walking into the stadium went viral on social media, as the larger fraction of attendees erupted with “USA” chants with White walking by his side.
