Veteran journalist Terry Moran has been let go from ABC News for criticising Trump aide Who is Stephen Miller? America’s ‘most powerful unelected man’ shaping Trump’s immigration agenda in a social media post. Moran was fired just two days after his suspension post the incident. The ABC News network on Tuesday said that Moran’s contract was already about to expire this week and has not been renewed after what it called a “clear violation” of internal policy.

The controversy originated from a late-night post written by Moran on X (formerly Twitter), in which he labelled Trump deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller a “world-class hater.” The post also cited Donald Trump as a ”hater”, though it termed Trump’s hostility as a means of self-promotion. He also added that Miller’s ”hatreds are his spiritual nourishment. He eats his hate.” The post was soon deleted.

”Terry Moran is no longer with ABC News. We were at the end of his contract, and based on his recent post-which was a clear violation of ABC News policies-we have made the decision not to renew,” a network spokesperson mentioned, as quoted by the Associated Press.

All about Terry Morgan

Moran, 65, has a long association with ABC News; he joined the firm in 1997. He has earlier worked as co-anchor of Nightline and was a top journalist covering the US Supreme Court and national politics. Moran has a record of interviewing nine US presidents till now. His recent interview with Trump was broadcast during prime time, in which the US president resisted answering tough questions related to deportation plans, stating, ‘’You’re not being very nice.’’

Where he might go next?

As per the latest reports, there is no official update on where he will be joining next, as his accounts show no fresh posts after the controversial post was deleted.

US Vice President JD Vance and other Trump allies have also criticised Moran’s comment publicly. Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung also condemned Moran’s departure with a stern message on X,  he wrote that those who attack Trump and his team ‘’get hit’’.

Moran’s departure also comes in between when NBC News is steering a period of heightened scrutiny. The network has recently agreed to donate $15 million to Trump’s presidential library to settle a defamation lawsuit against anchor George Stephanopoulos’s misrepresentation of a civil ruling against Trump in the E.Jean Caroll case.
