In the US electoral system, each state or territory conducts its own election, assigning electors to the Electoral College according to its population. Out of a total of 538 votes, a candidate must secure at least 270 to claim victory.
Several world leaders congratulated Donald Trump on his reelection as President. Among those extending their wishes on X are Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and French President Emmanuel Macron.
