Ukraine‘s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba offered his resignation on Wednesday as part of the largest government reshuffle since the beginning of the 30-month war with Russia. The development comes after the resignations of five ministers on Tuesday. Given the coming winters, this move is described by a close ally of President Volodymyr Zelenskiy as the onset of a comprehensive reset of the government. The news was shared on Facebook by Ruslan Stefanchuk, who is the speaker of the parliament, he mentioned that a decision will be made soon on the request. It is expected that a parliamentary vote on the resignation will be held on Wednesday, which is the usual procedure followed in this case.

Zelenskiy on government reshuffling

President Zelenskiy has underlined the significance of these changes which have taken place during the ongoing conflict. He stated that the changes are important for strengthening the government and for ensuring the outcomes Ukraine requires. ”Autumn will be extremely essential for Ukraine, and the structure of the state institutions should be in a manner such that Ukraine achieves all the goals for all of us,” Zelenskiy stated. A ”major government reset” will result in the replacement of more than half of the ministers, a senior member of Zelenskiy’s party revealed.

Current status of Ukraine-Russia Crisis

In between the news of the reshuffle in the government, Russian forces are currently heading toward eastern Ukraine whereas Ukraine troops have foray into Russia’s Kursk region. Meanwhile, Moscow has also increased the number of drone and missile attacks on Ukraine.
