Turkey on Wednesday expressed solidarity with Pakistan just hours after India launched precision strikes on nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives.

In Islamabad, Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan met with Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to express Turkey’s support, describing India’s retaliatory action as an “unprovoked violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty”. The Pakistani foreign ministry stated on X that both sides “discussed regional security concerns in depth” and pledged close coordination.

Notably, Turkey had earlier unequivocally condemned the Pahalgam attack, recognising it as a “terrorist act”.

India’s operation, dubbed Operation Sindoor, struck terror bases in Bahawalpur and Muridke in Pakistan’s Punjab province and Muzaffarabad and Kotli in PoK. These locations are known hubs of terror outfits, including the Jaish-e-Mohammed.

After the Indian Armed Forces carried out the mission, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar reaffirmed India’s position on X, saying, “The world must show zero tolerance for terrorism.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reportedly monitored the operation through the night. Meanwhile, flight operations in some areas near the India-Pakistan border, including Srinagar, were temporarily halted as a precautionary measure amid heightened tensions.
