Donald Trump in an interview to CNBC on Tuesday said that he is planning to “substantially raise” tariffs on India in the next 24 hours.

Earlier on Monday, President Trump had said the same thing of “substantially” raising US tariffs on India. Trump accused India of buying cheap Russian oil and selling it for big profits.

However, in a sharp counterattack, India called out the US and the European Union for their “unjustified and unreasonable” targeting of India for purchasing Russian crude oil. Rejecting the criticism, India pointed out the double standards in targeting it on the issue and said both the US and the EU are continuing their trade relations with Russia.
