US President Donald Trump has said that Israel has agreed to the terms of a 60-day ceasefire deal in Gaza. He also urged Hamas to accept the deal because “it will not get better”. Trump made this announcement ahead of his scheduled meeting with the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House. He also disclosed that his representatives had conducted extensive discussions with Israeli officials earlier in the day related to the ongoing tension in Gaza.

“My representatives had a long and productive meeting with the Israelis today on Gaza. Israel has agreed to the necessary conditions to finalise the 60 Day CEASEFIRE, during which time we will work with all parties to end the War,” Trump said in a social media post. He further added that the proposal will be communicated to Hamas through intermediaries from Qatar and Egypt.
He also warned Hamas to accept the agreement, stating, “I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this Deal, because it will not get better-IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE.’’
Strategic talks held in Washington
Israeli Minister for Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer was in Washington on Tuesday. He holds crucial meetings with key US officials, including Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and special envoy Steve Witkoff. The talks included discussions related to the Gaza ceasefire, regional conflict with Iran, and other important concerns.
The ceasefire push comes amid global concern about the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in Gaza. More than 150 aid organisations like Save the Children, Amnesty International, and Oxfam have issued a joint statement demanding to destroy Israeli and US-backed aid distribution process. The system has faced sharp criticism over disorganised management and violent incidents associated with it. The most recent was the killing of 10 Palestinians who were waiting for food support.
Conflict on the rise as missile strike continues from Gaza
Similarly, airstrikes by Israeli forces in southern Gaza, Khan Younis, has reportedly killed 37 people, according to Associated Press’s local hospital sources.
Meanwhile, conflicts have escalated further as Israel’s military intercepted missiles fired from both Yemen and Gaza. In a counterstatement, Defence Minister Israel Katz threatened that Yemen could face intense retaliation, similar to the threats issued for Tehran. Yemen Houthi rebels have continued their support for Gaza unless the blockade stops.
