US President Donald Trump has revealed the design of the proposed $5 million ‘Gold Card’ visa aboard Air Force One. This initiative has been taken to attract wealthy foreign nationals by offering them a route to US residency and citizenship in exchange for a substantial investment. The gold-coloured card prominently displays the President’s image on it. Trump stated, ”For $5 million, this could be yours. That was the first of the cards. You know what that card is? It’s the gold card-the Trump card.” As per a latest report by Reuters, Trump stated that he expects the government to commence issuing ‘Gold Card’ visas in the coming weeks.

The Gold Card is planned to replace the existing EB-5 visa program that allows foreign investors to acquire permanent US residency by investing $1 million in a US business that could generate at least ten jobs. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick criticised the EB-program as being ”full of nonsense, make-believe and fraud,” as quoted by The Sun. He also pointed out that the new Gold Card would attract ”wonderful, world-class global citizens.”
The administration expects that the Gold Card program will attract high-level investors, resulting in escalating job creation and contributing to economic growth. US President Trump mentioned that selling one million of these cards could create $5 trillion in revenue, potentially assisting in reducing the national debt. Hr remarked, ”We have $35 trillion in debt. That’ll be nice, so we’ll see.”
The Gold Card does not provide immediate citizenship but grants approval for lawful residence with the chance to apply for citizenship likely in five years. Applicants will need to go under verification to ensure their eligibility as world-class global citizens. The administration plans to release qualification criteria in the coming weeks.
