As Russian President Vladimir Putin prepares to land in Delhi tomorrow evening, India and Russia have pulled out all stops to make sure his visit goes smoothly. From elite commandos to high-tech drones and AI monitoring systems, a massive security plan is already in place.

Russia, too, is prepared to bring a high-level security team that will accompany Putin to India. Along with the President comes a security network often described as one of the most secretive in the world. His protection team is chosen through extremely strict checks. Age, height, physical fitness, mental strength, language skills, and even loyalty are carefully assessed before anyone is allowed near him.

Putin’s security web

Putin is considered one of the most heavily protected leaders in the world. His security is managed by the FSO, an agency with links to old KGB systems. His personal guards belong to an elite force called the Presidential Security Service (SBP). The guards people see around Putin are only one layer. Behind them, there are snipers, drone experts, electronic-intelligence teams, communication units, and route-analysis teams. These people reach foreign locations days before Putin lands. They inspect every place he will enter, study threats, and prepare escape plans.

Putin’s ‘Poop’ suitcase

One of the most talked-about parts of Putin’s security setup is the strange little suitcase that follows him everywhere. Reports say that whenever he travels abroad, his waste is collected by his own security team, sealed tightly, and flown back to Russia. This is done to stop foreign intelligence agencies from studying his health or finding anything that could be used against him. His bodyguards stay close even during his most private moments, including bathroom breaks, to make sure nothing is ever left behind.

Putin’s Body doubles

Another famous thing about Putin is his body doubles. There have long been rumours that Putin sometimes uses body doubles at public events or in risky situations. According to NDTV, Ukraine’s military intelligence chief, Major General Kirill Budanov, claimed that the Russian President has at least three lookalikes. Among them, some may have had plastic surgery to match his appearance. Though the Kremlin has always denied this.

Food tested in his own labs

Putin reportedly travels with a small, portable lab that can test his meals before consumption. He does not depend on hotel kitchens or staff. His food, housekeeping materials and even basic supplies are brought in from Russia. Having said that, a month before his planned arrival in any foreign land, his team inspects the chosen hotel and replaces almost everything with items approved by Russian officials.

Putin’s Aurus Senat

Putin’s one-of-a-kind “rolling bunker,” the Aurus Senat, is widely known. Built jointly by Aurus Motors and Russia’s NAMI institute, the luxury car is essentially a moving fortress. It is fully bulletproof, can withstand grenade blasts, has high speed, an emergency oxygen supply, and advanced communication systems. The vehicle can run even on flat tyres, filters toxic air, includes special escape mechanisms, and much more.

Putin’s special plane

Putin flies in the Ilyushin IL-96-300 PU, also called the flying ‘pluton.’ The plane has missile defence systems, conference rooms, a gym, a bar and a medical area. Most importantly, it carries an emergency nuclear command button that allows him to authorise strikes from the air if needed.

Human shield and backup jet

In the event of any threat, Putin’s guards are trained to create a human shield around him instantly. Putin never travels with just one aircraft. His main plane is accompanied by one or two backup jets, prepared for emergencies.

Anti-drone guns

Modern problem needs modern solutions, and Putin’s security knows that well. One of Putin’s guards has been spotted carrying a special hand-held anti-drone device. India’s security agencies have also increased anti-drone monitoring as part of his visit.

Delhi on high alert

As Putin gets ready to arrive in India, security agencies in Delhi are working around the clock. According to PTI, his schedule for meetings has been finalised, and  the exact location where he will stay has been kept secret.

According to a report from NDTV, this time, Putin will be guarded by a five-layer security ring. Each layer will switch on the moment he arrives.

Here’s who is involved:

Highly trained officers from Russia’s Presidential Security Service

Top commandos from India’s National Security Guard (NSG)

Delhi Police teams

Snipers positioned across key locations

Drones, jammers, AI systems, and facial recognition cameras
