A small plane crashed in central Mexico on Monday while attempting an emergency landing, leaving at least seven people dead, as per Mexico State Civil Protection Coordinator Adrian Hernandez. The incident took place in San Mateo Anteco, an industrial zone situated about three miles (5 kilometres) from Toluca airport and about 31 miles (50 kilometres) west of Mexico City, as reported by the Associated Press.

Hernandez told the Associated Press that the aircraft, a private jet, was carrying eight passengers and two crew members. However, several hours after the crash, authorities had only recovered only seven bodies from the crash. Officials have not immediately clarified about the remaining people.

San Mateo Mayor Ana Muniz stated to Milenio Television that the fire led the authorities to evacuate around 130 people from the nearby areas.
