US President-elect Donald Trump has announced Tom Homan, his former acting director of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will serve as the ”border czar” in his new administration. Trump shared this information on his Truth Social media platform, showing his confidence in Homan’s abilities to look after border security. ”I am pleased to inform you that the Former ICE Director and stalwart of border control, Tom Homan will be joining the Trump administration as in charge of our Nations’ Borders”, he mentioned.
As part of his role, Homan will be responsible for managing both the northern and southern borders, in addition to supervising maritime and aviation security. Trump mentioned that Homan’s work would involve taking measures to deport individuals from the country who have entered illegally. This is the main focus of Trump’s immigration policy. Trump conveyed zero amount of doubt in Homan’s capability to conduct these duties and achieve the administration’s goal. As this position will not need any confirmation from the Senate, it will play a crucial role in the deportation strategy.
In a recent interview given to Fox News Channel’s ”Sunday Morning Futures”, Homan explained the approach ICE would take under his leadership, ensuring that the decision will be systematic and humane. The agency has a wide range of experience in handling targeted operations, which helps them in doing the deportation process effectively and in a fair manner. ”It’s going to be a well-targeted, planned operation” he said. He also praised the skill and work experience of ICE personnel. He gave assurance to the public that all the operations would be conducted by keeping specific targets in mind, and the risk of indiscrimination actions would be reduced.
Homan promised to head ”the biggest deportation operation this country will ever have seen during Trump’s new term. Earlier, during the National Conference this year, Homan expressed his frustrations with the portrayal of deportation efforts in the media. He asserted that his commitment to imposing immigration law would be firm under Trump’s administration. Homan further stated that those who are staying illegally should ”be looking over the shoulder,” underlining his determination to give priority to national security while executing Trump’s immigration policies.
