Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin and China’s special representative for Eurasian affairs, Li Hui, said it is not possible to discuss a Ukraine settlement without the participation of Moscow, said the Russian foreign ministry on Sunday.
During his second trip to Europe, the Chinese envoy met with Galuzin to promote a political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis. The envoy’s tour will also include Poland, Ukraine, and Germany.
“A very engaged and thorough exchange of views took place on the topic of the Ukrainian crisis,” the Russian foreign ministry said in the statement, reported Reuters.
“It was stated that any discussion of a political and diplomatic settlement is impossible without the participation of Russia and taking into account its interests in the security sphere,” it added.
In February 2022, Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russia called it a “special military operation” to “denazify” its neighbour.
Before the attack, the Russian army massed near Ukraine’s borders as Russian officials rejected any plans of attack.
The attack became the largest invasion of a European country since World War 2.
