A newly disclosed address book belonging to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein includes several high-profile personalities from across fields like politics, business, and entertainment, as per a report by The New York Times. The list was made public by the Department of Justice on Thursday comprising names like Michael Jackson, Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, Ethel Kennedy, mother of Robert F Kennedy Jr, supermodel Naomi Campbell, musician Courtney Love and actor Alec Baldwin.
The Trump administration’s Justice Department released more than 100 pages of the document. However, the list mentions the contact details but the addresses have been removed. Officials highlighted that the list is not a client list but it is a compilation of the contacts Epstein had in his ownership.
According to The New York Times, ‘’Much of this information has been earlier reported in several lawsuits and leaks over the years, making the list less shocking than some has anticipated.’’
What were other details revealed in the document?
Among the materials, there was also a flight log sheet of Epstein’s private jet, usually referred to as the ‘’Lolita Express’’. These records have been made public in past legal proceedings but with depletion. A separate section of the binder which had victims’ names in it was removed.
Epstein’s ‘’little black book’’ had also surfaced earlier in a 2009 court case and was leaked by Gawker in 2015. That particular edition which had records from 2004 to 2005 includes a list of famous names like Prince Andrew, Governor Andrew Cuomo, industrialist David Koch, singer Jimmy Buffet, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and ex-Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.
A later contact list from the 1990s consisted of 349 names in it, out of which 221 were not in the 2015 release. That list included US President Donald Trump, media personalities like Chris Cuomo and Christie Hefner, investor Carl Icahn, and New York Jets co-owner Suzzane Ircha.
A physical print of Epstein’s 1990s contact book was discovered in New York’s East Village and was sold on eBay for $425. The copy was purchased by a Vermont teacher Christopher Helali.
Despite the high profile names, The New York Times stated, ‘’No one named in these documents has not been accused of wrongdoing simply by association with Epstein.’’
Epstein has faced allegations of sexually abusing several underage girls in the early 2000s. He was later arrested on federal sex-trafficking charges in New York. He died in 2019 while he was in custody.
