Domodedovo, Vnukovo, and Zhukovsky airports in Moscow implemented stringent flight restrictions on Sunday morning, citing security concerns, as affirmed by Russia’s state aviation watchdog in an official statement.

These measures, aimed at safeguarding the integrity and safety of air travel, signify a proactive response to potential threats within the aviation domain. The imposition of such restrictions underscores the prioritisation of passenger safety and operational security within the Russian aviation sector, reinforcing vigilance and adherence to stringent protocols in the face of evolving security challenges.

In the midst of the presidential election in Russia, the country reported that Ukraine had deployed 35 drones targeting various sites across Russia. These drones triggered a brief fire at an oil refinery, aimed at Moscow, and disrupted electricity supplies in border areas, according to Russian sources on Sunday.

On March 17, Russian forces claimed to have intercepted and shot down a Ukrainian Mi-8 military helicopter as it was reportedly en route towards Russia’s Belgorod region. The Russian defence ministry released a statement on Sunday indicating that the incident occurred within Ukraine’s Sumy region.
