Iran condemned the recent explosive attacks in Lebanon involving detonating communication devices, Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani said in a post on the X social media platform on Wednesday. She also offered assistance to those wounded in the blasts.

The attacks, which occurred on Tuesday and Wednesday, involved hand-held radios used by Hezbollah that exploded across Lebanon, killing at least three people and injuring over 100. This followed a similar incident the day before, where pagers belonging to the group detonated, causing 12 fatalities. These explosions have heightened tensions with Israel.

“Iran strongly condemns yesterday’s criminal explosion of communication devices and today’s criminal detonation of walkie-talkies, which resulted in the deaths and injuries of hundreds of Lebanese civilians,” Mohajerani said, blaming the “terrorism of the Zionist regime” for these acts, which she said, “cause aversion and disgust.”

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian also weighed in, stating, “The incident in Lebanon once again demonstrates that Western countries and the United States, despite their claims of seeking a ceasefire, in practice fully support the crimes, massacres, and blind terrorism of the Zionist regime.”

Among those affected by Tuesday’s pager explosions was Tehran’s ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, who was injured but later expressed solidarity with the Lebanese people in a message posted on his X account on Wednesday.

Iran’s Minister of Health, Mohammadreza Zafarqandi, announced that a team of Iranian ophthalmologists and nurses had been dispatched to Lebanon to assist the wounded. Additionally, several injured Lebanese are being transferred to hospitals in Tehran for further treatment.
