Arshdeep Singh Gill, also known as Arsh Dalla, a Khalistani extremist and designated terrorist by India, is believed to have been arrested in Canada’s Ontario province in connection with a shooting incident, sources confirmed on Sunday.

The incident reportedly took place on October 28 in Milton, with Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) announcing the arrest of two men the following day on charges of “discharging a firearm with intent.”

“The HRPS Major Crime Bureau is now investigating and both males have been arrested. A 25-year-old male of Halton Hills and a 28-year-old male of Surrey BC have both been charged with Discharging Firearm with Intent,” a Halton police statement said, PTI reported.

The two men had arrived at a hospital, one of whom was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and later discharged. The police did not disclose their identities but stated that both suspects were held in custody pending a bail hearing.

According to PTI report, sources suggest that one of the arrested individuals is Arsh Dalla, a Canada-based gangster linked to the banned Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF). He is alleged to have been running terror modules on behalf of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a designated terrorist killed in June 2023.

The HRPS said that the investigation began after Guelph Police contacted them in the early hours of October 28. The two men had attended a hospital in Guelph, where one of them received treatment for a gunshot wound. The other was unharmed. The police’s Major Crime Bureau is continuing to investigate the case.

In a related development, Punjab police announced the arrest of two shooters associated with Arsh Dalla’s gang. The two men, Anmolpreet Singh and Navjot Singh, were apprehended in Kharar, Mohali, for their alleged involvement in the murder of a Sikh activist last month. Police said preliminary investigations revealed that Dalla had tasked Navjot Singh with targeting Gurpreet Singh Hari Nau, a Sikh activist with a YouTube channel.

Arsh Dalla has been accused of several criminal activities, including targeted killings, terror financing, and extortion in Punjab. In January 2023, the Indian government designated him a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for his involvement in cross-border smuggling of drugs and weapons, as well as terror-related activities. He is also an accused in several investigations by India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA).
