The Israeli government has reported that a drone was launched toward Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s residence in Caesarea on Saturday, but there were no casualties.
Sirens sounded in Israel this morning, alerting residents to incoming fire from Lebanon. According to a spokesperson, neither Netanyahu nor his wife was at home during the incident.
The strikes on Israel come as its conflict with Lebanon’s Hezbollah, a Hamas ally supported by Iran, has intensified in recent weeks.
On Friday, Hezbollah announced plans to escalate the fighting by launching more guided missiles and explosive drones into Israel. The group’s longtime leader, Hassan Nasrallah, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in late September, and Israel deployed ground forces into Lebanon earlier in October.
At the same time, Israel remains locked in a standoff with Hamas in Gaza. Both sides have shown little interest in ending the conflict following the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar earlier this week. Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, referred to Sinwar’s death as a significant loss but emphasized that Hamas remains resilient. “Hamas is alive and will stay alive,” Khamenei said.
